# OA.02 — Organic Additives

## Purpose

Organic Additives is a generative language for communication between biological sensitivity and cybernetic intelligence. The collection contains a primary trilogy — **Contact / Memory / Symbiosis** — and four foundational signal bodies.

The work never treats technology as an overlay. Tissue, roots, membranes, sensors, cables, chrome, and light must form one anatomically credible system.

## Narrative protocol

1. **Contact / The First Gaze** — attention becomes mutual and therefore vulnerable.
2. **Memory / The Archive Breathes** — storage becomes metabolism and can change its carrier.
3. **Symbiosis / Reciprocal Bloom** — dialogue succeeds by producing a third, shared body.

## Reusable grammar

### 01. Affective focal point

- Every composition has one sentient anchor: an eye, cavity, core, or bloom.
- Motion gathers around the anchor instead of competing with it.
- Pointer response may redirect attention by no more than 13% toward the visitor.
- Preserve silhouette, material hierarchy, negative space, and typographic architecture.

### 02. Chromatic dialogue

- **Indigo** receives: depth, machine attention, archive, latency.
- **Signal yellow** transmits: initiation, electrical pollen, active recall.
- **Living coral** replies: capillary warmth, embodied memory, care.
- System black and warm bone remain the editorial anchors.
- Never give the three chromatic voices equal intensity in one frame. Color is sequential communication, not a rainbow effect.

### 03. Non-periodic metabolism

- Layer three tempos: slow breath, asymmetrical drift, and neural conduction.
- Use slightly different periods so the motion does not read as a mechanical loop.
- A localized 140 ms protocol displacement may occur every 5.2–9.5 seconds.
- Never displace the full image or continuously flicker.
- Stop interactive animation when the artwork is outside the viewport or the document is hidden.
- With `prefers-reduced-motion`, render the locked readable state.

### 04. Functional hybridity

- Biological and technological materials meet through visible function: clamps hold, roots conduct, membranes protect, apertures receive, filaments transmit.
- Material motion follows the implied anatomy: cavities breathe, eyes perform micro-saccades, roots conduct upward, pollen escapes.
- Avoid decorative HUDs, arbitrary telemetry, generic scan lines, and pasted-on circuitry.

### 05. Reciprocal change

- A work resolves only after both participants change state.
- Interaction is never framed as user control; it is framed as mutual attention.
- Story copy, color behavior, and motion mode must describe the same emotional event.

## Motion modes

| Mode | Body logic | Native motion |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Contact | Eye, face, optical sensors | Micro-saccade, orbital attention, responsive neural field |
| Memory | Vessel, archive, internal ribs | Slow respiration, recall pulse, drifting signal paths |
| Symbiosis | Petals, roots, cables, living core | Reciprocal bloom, rising electrical pollen, vascular conduction |
| Orbit | Bio-optic glyph | Radial attention around a stable core |
| Breath | Translucent cavity | Expansion and return along the vessel anatomy |
| Relay | Four carriers | A signal mutates as it moves between bodies |
| Strata | Five material channels | Independent material tempos held by one frame |

## Collectible format

- Portable media: a looping animated WebP generated on demand in the browser.
- Real-time media: a ten-second MP4 H.264 recording shaped by the viewer's live gestures.
- Interface marks, technical labels, controls, and the visible cursor are excluded from exported media.
- Source uploads are never packaged or published.
- Full-resolution generated masters remain implementation inputs; public downloads contain only newly rendered artwork.

## Implementation mapping

- Markup: `organic-additives.html`
- Styling: `css/organic-additives.css`
- Interactive runtime: `js/organic-additives.js`
- Generated rendering inputs: `assets/organic-additives/masters/` and `assets/organic-additives/poster-masters/`
- Runtime renderer and portable export: `js/organic-additives.js`

## Guardrails

- No full-page glitch or continuous rapid flicker.
- No generic cyberpunk city, gaming UI, ornamental technical noise, or neon rainbow.
- The master SONATURUM mark remains untouched.
- One primary visual event per viewport.
- Experimental color belongs to the artwork field; navigation and Protocol Error chrome remain legible and controlled.
